]]>Scrapping the Music - "Who Says"http://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2012/1/14/scrapping-the-music-who-says.htmlJennyG2012-01-14T15:55:24ZNow that my scrapping space is set up and organized, I feel like I can finally get back to creating!  I am working on a lot of gifts for people which has kept me busy.  I did find some time to create a layout for this week's Scrapping the Music.  I used a picture of my daughter taken with my fabulous new camera I received for Christmas!  I chose the line "Beauty Queen" from the song and used a picture of my daughter in her dress up clothes! 

 

The DSP, stickers, and some of the ribbon and buttons are from last year's Stampin' Up Saleabration set.  For the title I took white cardstock letter stickers and sprayed them with my new Smooch spray.  I also got to use one of my new mini-library clips.  It felt great to scrap again after I had been doing so much card making.  I am looking forward to getting lots done at the end of the month when I am attending my first scrapbooking retreat!  :)

Materials are all from Stampin' Up include: Garden Green, Real Red, and Whisper White Cardstock, Sparkly and Bright Stamp Set (retired), Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Fabric, 1/2 "  Seam Binding Ribbon Real Red (retired), Antique Brad, and Early Expresso Ink.  I did use a scallop punch and a bit of red Stickles for Rudolph's nose.

]]>Countdown to Christmas...Day 1http://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2011/12/1/countdown-to-christmasday-1.htmlJennyG2011-12-02T01:24:00ZIt has been awhile since I have blogged, but I have been creating a lot recently.  My goal was to have all my Christmas cards done before December, and unless my list has grown significantly since last year I have achieved this goal.  I have created several different cards and I thought I would use my blog as a way to share my creations, some of my own design and others I have taken classes to create. 

So for December 1st, here is a card I designed:

First I should explain the backdrop...I thought the card would look cute nestled in the Christmas Village I put up each year.  

I used the following supplies: Very Vanilla and Marina Mist cardstock, Sparkly and Bright Stamp Set (retired), 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Marina Mist all from Stampin' Up, Rhinestones, glittered embossing powder, and corner rounder.   

]]>Scrapping the Music - "Enjoy the Silence"http://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2011/10/4/scrapping-the-music-enjoy-the-silence.htmlJennyG2011-10-05T01:06:15ZSo I was pumped to see Scrapping the Music use a Depeche Mode song, they are one of my favorite bands.  But I was unsure how to scrap a picture of my daughter with the word silence, so I chose to focus on the phrase "Little Girl" and used some photos taken this past weekend.  Jessica got a cute outfit for her birthday from Grammy and Papa and the weather was finally cool enough for her to wear it.  I had my doubts about the matching headband...I thought she would keep pulling it out, but I was pleasantly surprised.  Here is the layout:

I used the PlayDate retired DSP and cardstock stickers from Stampin' Up! along with coordinating cardstock (So Saffron and Tempting Turquiose) and Jillibean Soup letter stickers.  I based this layout on a sketch I found in an old Kaisercraft catalog.  My favorite part of this layout is how I cut my daughter out, here is a close up of her cute little face! 

    

My nickname for her is Peanut, so this retired stamp from Stampin' Up was perfect.  Thanks for checking it out.  I will be posting some Holiday cards I have been working on later this week!  :)

]]>Crafting for Paws (and Scrapping the Music Entry)http://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2011/9/26/crafting-for-paws-and-scrapping-the-music-entry.htmlJennyG2011-09-26T12:16:11ZYesterday I took part in a wonderful fundraiser, Crafting for Paws.  This is Scrapbooking's Inn annual fundraiser for the Center for Animal Health and Welfare.  We had croppers from 1-9, a vendor fair from 1-6 and a cat adoption from 1-3.  I am not sure of the amount of money raised just yet, but we did have a cat find her forever home!  

I had donated quite a few items for the silent auction including two of my favorite premade paper projects,  the Explosion Box and Stationary Kit, along with the directions and adhesive.  I would like to teach these class again in the fall sometime, maybe November? 

As for my actual creations during the crop...I do feel like I didn't get as much done as I wanted.  I made two layouts and a card and started on some of my Christmas Cards.  Here is what I did:

First is my entry for Scrapping The Music, usng the song "Like a Star" by Corinne Bailey Rae.

 

Most materials used are from Bo Bunny's Blast Off collection, except for the ruffled ribbon which is from Stampin' Up!  I thought this picture was hysterical and couldn't wait to scrap it.  We were riding back from the Animal Kingdom lodge in Disney World and were all a little tired.  But not too tired to smile!  :)     

Here is my layout I created for next month's Happy Inspirational Scrappin.  I won't give away the quote just yet but I had to share this layout!  It was so FUN to make!

Materials here are from Stampin' Up, including the Flirtatious DSP which is so cute!  The girlie paper seemed appropriate with the two "princesses."  I had actually bought the stamp below the picture of my husband at the crop.  It is a retired Stampin' Up set and this stamp says "every day I discover something new to love about you."  It was perfect!  

Finally here is a card I created using another retired stamp set from Stampin' Up.

 

I love how this came out!  I used the new In Colors and added some Crystal Effects to make the glasses look like glasses, all from Stampin' Up!  I love how this turned out!

]]>Playing Catch Up...http://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2011/9/9/playing-catch-up.htmlJennyG2011-09-09T13:35:22ZSo I am definitely been slacking on the scrapping.  Well that's not exactly true.  I have been creating here and there, but nothing like I really want to be doing.  But all that will be changing soon because my little girl started preschool yesterday!  She will be going 4 times a week, so I will have some time to getcrafty!  In the meantime, here are some layouts I have created for the Happy Inspirational Scrappin blog where I am a member of the design team. 

For July, the quote was from Ben Franklin: "The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness.  You have to catch it yourself."  Here is the layout I created centering around the concept of happiness.  

 

 

I had to use a red white and blue theme!  I watermarked the blue background with some stars.  Materials are Stampin' Up's cardstock, star stamps, and happy definition stamp,  Close to my Heart's journal stamp, and patriotic paper from my stash. 

 

For August, the quote was "Life is a daring adventure or nothing" from Hellen Keller.  I had a great idea of using pictures of Jessi on her first Ferris Wheel (for kids).  She has no fear and is always up for trying something new and I thought this went very well with the quote.  Here is the layout.

  

Materials are mostly from Bo Bunny's Blast off collection.  The stamp with the quote is from Stampin' Up. 

 

For September the quote was "Make time for the quiet moments as God whispers and the world is loud."  I chose a beautiful picture I took of my brother and his wife and printed it in black and white.

 The paper, fish chipboard and journal tag are all from Bo Bunny's Barefoot and Bliss line.  The doilies are from Little Yellow Bicycle's Twig collection.  I inked them up to blend with the paper.  I also added some liquid pearls around the photo and as bubbles from the fish.  I really liked how this layout turned out.  Plus I am usually scrapping pics of my daughter, so it was nice to have another subject.   

 

Now I am hoping to start getting some major progress made in Jessica's albums.  Last year on her second birthday I was up to date, and unfortunately, I have done very little since.  But with her starting preschool I have big plans!  Today I will take that two hours and get organized.  Hopefully I will be posting more and more!  Keep checking back! 

 

 

]]>A Magical Layouthttp://www.jennygpc.com/journal/2011/6/19/a-magical-layout.htmlJennyG2011-06-19T14:52:52ZI recently took a class from a fellow teacher at Scrapbooking's Inn, Jes Ballas.  She is a Close to my Heart consultant.  I have taken quite a few of her classes, love the products and love all the great tricks she has shown me.  I felt the need to blog about this layout class since it was so awesome!  We created a layout that had a magic trick.  Here is my layout:

 

The pictures are from a trip to a local church fair, which my daughter dubbed "the circus."  Here is a close up of each side:

 How is it done you might ask?  A magician never reveals his tricks...but Close to my Heart does sell a whole book full of them.  I actually used one of the layouts from this book, but without the magic element.
