Vintage Inspired Altered Tray

Its been WAY too long since I have taught a class.  The summer had me so busy with my daughter...we got through many hurdles with her; converting to a toddler bed and potty training.  We also begin remodelling out kitchen, a process that is still lingering.  We also took a very spontaneous trip to Disney World which was truly magical.  I can't wait to start scrapping those memories.

In the meantime, here is the next project I am teaching.  Its an Altered Tray decorated with Bo Bunny's gorgeous Timepiece collection.  Perfect for the Vintage Weekend scheduled for the end of September at Scrapbooking's Inn.

This collection showcases both a clock theme and a lock and key theme.  The tray I made utilizes both, but you can choose one theme to focus on them or blend them like I did.  Here are some close ups:

Here is a very inked clock wooden flourish along with a stamped sentiment from a retired Stampin' Up set.

Here I have a journal tag hidden in a pocket (using another retired Stampin' Up set).

Another hidden journal prompt.

Don't you just love these key and lock wooden flourishes?

I think this project would make a great gift for a parent/grandparent.  People could easily insert a few photos (maybe even printed in sepia and/or black and white) and use these embellishments to decorate around them.  The cost of the class is $30 and that includes the tray, paper, and embellishments.  Please let me know by September 10th so I can order enough trays.  I hope to see you there or at any of the other special vintage themed events.  My class is on Saturday September 24th from 3:00 to 4:30.

Cards for our Heroes

I am hosting a very special cardmaking event at Scrapbookings Inn on Saturday June 25 from 10am to 5 pm.  Come create these 5 cards expressing out gratitude to the service men and women for $10.  We will be stamping, usig border punchs, inking, distressing and wet and dry embossing.  Leave your creations with us and we will be sure to send them over seas or take them with you to send to a loved one yourself.  Either way, you will leave with sketches and step by step instructions for you to create more at home.

Stationary Kit Class

I am teaching another paper project class at 3:30 on March 20 at Scrapbooking's Inn in Hellertown.  This paper project might look complicated but it is actually quite easy. You can choose from our great selection of Bo Bunny or Little Yellow Bicycle paper.  Please bring a paper trimmer, adhesive (red tape and zots), and a bone folder or scoring blade with you.  The cost of the class is $20 and includes step by step instructions for you to take home!  Here are some pictures:

Embellishing the Explosion Box

Recently I taught this class and I wanted to post some additional photos as a follow up.  Because the bulk of the class we are creating the box, there is little time for embellishing it.  Plus it makes sense to embellish the box while inserting the photos.  Here are some tips and tricks:

1)  Add ribbon around the box.  It gives it some extra support and looks super cute.  Use Glue dots,  double sided tape, or consider running the ribbon through the Xyron runner (sticker maker).

2)  Create a pocket for a photo.  Use ribbon as a little handle.  Consider tear the paper and inking or folding it and attaching a brad to hold it down.

 3) Need a spot to journal, create a pocket or make better use of the lid!

 4) Cut out the pattern from the scrap paper and use it elsewhere as an embellishment.  I ran this strip of flowers through the Xyron Runner.

Thanks for checking out this project.  I am working on creating a new sample for the Birthday Card Box class.  This class will also be $20.  We will be creating 2 cards, 2 mini cards, and 4 gift tags as well as a box to hold it all.  It is all made out of paper.  I am thinking mid to late March.  Please let me know if you are interested!

Another Explosion Box Class

Now that Scrapbooking's Inn has relocated to a more convenient location in Hellertown, I have decided to teach the Explosion Box Photo Album class another time.  I love doing this project...I made five of them for the holidays.  After I gave them all away, I was sad and made another.  I am still working on embellishing it and will post pics soon.  Until then, here is a video for you to see how this project works.  Trust me, it looks a lot more complicated than it actually is!

If you can't take the class but would like to purchase a kit or a custom made box, please email me.
